My first time traveling alone I went to Paris. I was super excited to see the city untethered by any one else’s desires, to have my experiences be mine alone, to eat what I wanted, go where I wanted, go to sleep when I wanted.
I remember sitting by the Seine on an unusually warm spring day, laying out my sweater to lie back and look at the sky. Something about my life had been bothering me for months, and I had been putting it off, shoving it down, ignoring it, you know, just not dealing with it. I suddenly shot up. Voila! I knew what I had to do. And when I got home I did it.
